The 2009 Wiesmann Roadster MF5

Over the last few years there have been a lot of companies enter the small volume car production business. These are companies that build cars in small batches that are usually extremely high performance. One of those companies is Wiesmann who have started producing the Roadster MF5. This is a car that is designed in the style of a traditional roadster, both in the way that it looks and the way that it handles. The result is a car that has really attracted a lot of attention and impressed a lot of people.

In a lot of ways the Wiesmann Roadster MF5 is a throwback to the days of the classic roadster. The design of the car just looks like it belongs in the past. That being said the car is built with all modern technology that allows the car to perform at a top level. The car is produced by the small Wiesmann company who still build their cars by hand in limited numbers. In this case production will be limited to fifty five cars. With a price tag of around two hundred thousand dollars the MF5 is one of the more accessible super cars.

The engine in the MF5 comes from BMW so you know it is going to be good. It is a 4.4 liter twin turbo V8 that produces about 550 horse power. In a category where most of its competitors are using a V12 this may be a bit of a disadvantage but the car does deliver plenty of power and it is very fast in a straight line. The six speed gear box with paddle shifters is pretty standard in all cars of this class and it performs great allowing the car to go from zero to sixty in just under four seconds.

While speed and acceleration are important to truly be a roadster a car needs to be able to handle. This is something that all Wiessman cars have done extremely well and the MF5 is no different. The main reason for the excellent handling is the stiff frame that they get from the monocoque chassis. Combined with the long wheel base that allows them to keep almost all of the weight between the wheels this results in a car that can get around corners at a remarkable speed. This is what makes the Wiessman fun to drive and such a popular option.

There is a lot to like about the Wiesmann Roadster MF5. The car looks great and it performs well. It probably isn't a true super car but it is one of the best sports cars on the market. There is also the cache of owning a car that is produced in such limited numbers that appeals to a lot of people. Most people have never even heard of Wiesmann so the car is going to attract attention where ever it goes. The future looks very bright for the company and for the MF5.
